Chlorella with Turmeric 100g

Chlorella is one of the most complete foods in the world. It’s jam-packed with proteins, nutrients, amino acids and chlorophyll, to name but a few benefits, and has long been used in Asia to treat everything from heart disease to depression. Turmeric contains a chemical called curcumin, an incredibly potent natural anti-inflammatory, detoxifier and painkiller. The protein in the chlorella allows the turmeric to be absorbed and utilised much more effectively by the body than if it were taken without the chlorella, and when the two are combined, they make for one super-duper supplement.

Benefits of Chlorella
We’ve long known about the health benefits of chlorella. It grows in freshwater ponds in the Far East and is a very simple unicellular algae. You wouldn’t think it’d be so beneficial, actually. Once it’s grown, it’s harvested, dried, crushed and tableted, into pills that smells vaguely like the sea. Chlorella is incredibly protein rich for a food that is probably as vegan-friendly as you can get, containing twice as much protein as spinach and 38 times as much protein as soybeans. With nine essential amino acids – some of which you can’t get from any other source – and a vast number of vitamins and minerals, a pill a day could really keep the doctor away. Although it was discovered back in the 1800s, it was only really studied as a potential way to feed the masses after the Second World War when global food shortages and the expectation of a population boom let to scientists growing it as a way to potentially feed many people on a large scale very cheaply. That didn’t really work out, and so NASA started to study it to see whether it could be grown in space and/or be used to feed astronauts.
There is also both anecdotal data and pioneering studies being done to suggest that chlorella could be a useful tool in alternative cancer treatment. It’s full of magnesium, which is known for being one of nature’s best antidepressants – ideal for relieving stress. It can also stimulate probiotics and healthy bacteria growth, and the cell walls of the chlorella can absorb toxins whilst also encouraging muscular contraction within the bowel, which helps to prevent constipation. Although these benefits aren’t exclusive to those with cancer, many specialists are increasingly recommending chlorella as a supplement to their current medical regimen (not as an alternative – we must stress that!). Professor Randall Merchant, head of Neurosurgery and Anatomy at the Virginia Commonwealth University, says that although he didn’t see tumours shrink, and he didn’t see cancers disappear, he did see a boost in patient’s immune systems – which meant that there was a significant reduction in the number of opportunistic infections. One study also found that chlorella reduced hypertension – high blood pressure – in around 50 percent of patients, which is quite a significant number, and another found that chlorella could help to regulate the genes which control the way we use insulin, which could prevent metabolic syndrome, a potential pre-cursor to diabetes.

Benefits of T urmeric
Turmeric is not only delicious – of course – but is packed with almost as many vitamins, minerals and nutrients as chlorella. It contains curcumin, which is a hugely potent anti-inflammatory, natural painkiller, antiseptic, antibacterial and detoxifier. When combined with cauliflower, surprisingly, it has been shown to prevent prostate cancer and also help to prevent the growth of existing prostate cancer. It’s been long used in Chinese medicine to boost metabolism and burn fat, to support joints, treat depression, prevent the growth of blood vessels in tumours, increase healing time and remodelling of damaged skin and to treat inflammatory skin conditions. So, it’s a bit of a powerhouse, as you can imagine.
Chlorella plus turmeric tablets are a nutritional tablet that can be taken safely daily by most patients with no negative side effects. Patients taking warfarin or patients with blood clotting disorders should always consult their doctor before taking chlorella or chlorella plus turmeric as it contains vitamin K1, which is important in blood clotting and could lead to clots forming in patients with certain contraindications. If you experience any side effects, or any negative side effects, see your GP immediately. Take one supplement daily.
